Pupils in P7 at South Lanarkshire’s Mossneuk Primary School last week staged a fantastic launch event for Talisman, the first book in Paul Murdoch’s Peck Chronicles fantasy series.
Paul dressed-up for the occasion – in a particularly cool T-shirt of the book. (His publisher was very jealous.)
2 impressive P7s acted as hosts, introducing the book to almost 200 of their fellow pupils. If they felt any nerves, they certainly didn’t show it as they worked the audience!
The Talisman trailer was given an airing, to lots of oohs and aahs.
Then the Review Group took to the floor to give their opinions on the book. The main thing that came out of this was that they can’t wait to read the next instalment. And happily they won’t have to wait for long before Citadel hits the shops.
Everyone loved the cover, which was lucky because lurking in the audience was a surprise special guest – cover artist Ida Henrich.
A lot of thought had gone into the reviews. Here are a few examples:
Even then it wasn’t all over. Straight after the event there was tea (and maybe a few biscuits) in the staffroom, followed by a signing at Waterstones in East Kilbride.
It was a big day for a big book. Our thanks goes out to all at Mossneuk Primary who made it so special. (A particular mention for P7 teacher Mrs McAslin.)
